Pine Forest Toque/ A Westlake Knitting Kit

I designed the highly textured Pine Forest Toque to compliment the sturdy Topsy Farms sheep's wool yarn.

This kit comes with a copy of the original knitting pattern for the Pines Toque
and one skein of Topsy Farms Aran weight wool in your choice of colour. All of the colours are naturally dyed by myself (Kerri) in my Toronto studio.

Ash: A warm pale grey dyed with locally foraged sumac berries.
Dew: Subtle pale olive green dyed with locally foraged goldenrod. *Please note that there are some orange spots on this yarn, so it has been discounted (they absorbed extra iron during the dyeing process). See last photo for detail.
Coral: Cheery coral pink dyed with madder root.
Deep Sea: Dark blue dyed with indigo.

Are you interested in dyeing the yarn first, then knitting the Pines Toque? Dye & Knit Kits are coming very soon!

More About Topsy Farms Wool/ North Country Cheviot and Suffolk Mix

Glorious, bouncy, undyed, untreated, Ontario raised wool! It's just so exciting! Topsy Farms wool is delightful to work with, and is one of the most affordable locally raised yarns I know, so it's excellent for those large projects you've been dreaming up.

Topsy Farms yarn is processed from selected fleeces that have been washed in gentle soaps, and processed in a mill that does not use sulphuric acid, bleach, or other harsh chemicals, which are regularly utilized in more modern mills.

Originally started as a meat farm, Topsy now turns what was once a waste product (hard to believe that many farms throw away glorious fleeces!) into wonderful yarn.

North Country Cheviot is originally from the Scottish Highlands and is known for its body, resilience, and bounce. The fibres are slightly longer than the average Down breeds, but they have a similar crimp. The sheep have white faces and fleeces.

Suffolk is a classic Down wool type sheep. The fibre is know for its elasticity and strength. The sheep have black faces and white fleece.

Aran Weight
100g
3 ply

Please note that, as a farm yarn, Topsy Wool has more lanolin on it than the average store bought yarn. Also, you may find small pieces of vegetation- it's a sign that sheep are being sheep, grazing outdoors among plants. They can easily be picked out as you work. Weight and yardage may also vary slightly.
